Here is a very good Marx 1829 steam locomotive that has been recently serviced. The train runs, reverses, and tracks well with a working headlight. This is the non-smoking version. The 2731 tender is not quite as nice as the locomotive, with numerous scratches on the tender shell, and rust and pitting on the wheels & axles and the drawbar. There is also a small chip of plastic missing at the top of the ladder. However, the lettering is strong on both sides, and it is a good runner grade tender. It would look much better with upgraded trucks, but we'll leave that decision up to the buyer. The locomotive siderods are all original, with the valve gear showing the most wear to the finish. One pair of wheels on the rear truck are plastic instead of metal, with a repro axle. If you don't have a Marx 333, this is the next best thing! Minor grooves in the pickup shoe, but good for many more hours of running.
